About us

Nairobi Hospice is a charitable organization that was established 30 years ago to support patients (adults & children) and families faced with life threatening conditions like cancer, HIV/AIDS, stroke, organ failure, congenital anomalies among others. Services are provided at Nairobi Hospice on an outpatient basis, in Hospitals and at the patient’s home.
A community outreach programme enables us reach those who may have difficulties reaching our clinic for services. We have training programmes in palliative care that ensures that quality care is given to those in need.

Board of Directors

Dr. Frederick Bukachi, PhD

Chairman

Dr. Frederick Bukachi has been serving as Chairman since 2020. He joined the Hospice Board in 2013. He is a Medical Consultant – Physician and a lecturer at Nairobi University.

Mr. Robert Mugo wa Karanja

Hon. Treasurer

Mr. Robert Mugo wa Karanja joined the Nairobi Hospice board in 2007. He is a Chartered Accountant and serving as the Honorary Treasurer.

Mrs. Ruth Njeri Kigundu

Board member

Mrs. Ruth Kigundu joined the board in 2007. She is a Human Resource Consultant. Serving on the Board of Nairobi Hospice as a board member.

Mr. Aloysius Gonzaga Wanda

Board member

Mr. Wanda joined the board in 2009. He is a Quantity Surveyor. Serving on the Board of Nairobi Hospice as a board member.

Mr. William Rahedi

Board member

Mr. William Rahedi joined the Nairobi Hospice board in 2006. He is a Chartered Accountant and serving as board member and member of Human Resource and Governance Committee.

Ms. Rose Detho

Vice Chair

Mrs. Rose Detho joined the board in 2020. She is a Strategic Management Consultant. She is serving on the Board of Nairobi Hospice as vice chair, as well as a member of the Executive, Human Resource & Governance and Finance Committees.

Mrs. Catherine Khabure

Board member

Ms. Catherine Njonjo Khabure, is a Human Resource Executive and a chartered fellow CIPD. She serves on the board of Nairobi Hospice as board member and a member of the Fund Raising Committee.

Mrs. Millicent Omondi

Board member

Mrs. Millicent Omondi joined the board in 2004. She is a banker currently serving on the Board of Nairobi Hospice as a board member, as well as a member of the Human Resource and Governance and Chairlady of the Fundraising Sub- Committee.

Mrs. Catherine Adongo Kola

Board member

Mrs. Catherine Kola is an Advocate of the High Court. Joined the board in 2015. She is serving on the Board of Nairobi Hospice as a board member and advises on legal matters.

Miss Monique Mukayagi

Board member

Miss Monique Mukayagi joined the board in 2016. She is a Human Resource Consultant and is the Chairperson of the Human Resource and Education Sub- committees.

Dr. Sara Agak

Board Member

Dr. Sara Agak is a pharmacist by profession with vast experience in clinical and management. Joined the board in 2021. She is serving on the Board of Nairobi Hospice as a board member and advises on medical and management issues.
